The Sound I'll Never Get Tired of Hearing

If someone asked me to choose my favorite sound in Yellowstone, I wouldn't have to think very long.

It's the sound of wolves howling.

The first time you hear it in the wild, it's hard to describe. It isn't just a sound you hear with your ears. You feel it. It carries across valleys, echoes off the mountains, and reminds you that you're standing in a place where nature still has a voice.

Many people come to Yellowstone hoping to see a wolf, and I completely understand why. But if you ask me, hearing wolves howl can be just as unforgettable as watching them.

Even after spending countless mornings in Yellowstone, I still find myself smiling every time I hear that first distant howl.

It's one of those moments that reminds me why I keep coming back.
